How this Aegean miles calculator works

The purpose of this page is simple: help you estimate how many miles you could earn before booking or flying. Aegean’s Miles+Bonus program credits miles based on flown distance and booking class, then may add elite bonuses or promotional extras. Instead of calculating all that manually, this tool does the arithmetic for you in a few seconds.

If you are planning domestic Greece hops, European city breaks, or long-haul Star Alliance itineraries, having a quick estimator can help you compare fares more intelligently. Sometimes a slightly more expensive ticket can produce enough additional miles to be worth it over time.

What each input means

One-way flown distance

Enter total one-way flight distance in miles. If your outbound routing is ATH → FRA → JFK, add both legs to get one-way distance.

Segments per one-way itinerary

A segment is one takeoff and one landing. ATH → FRA → JFK is two segments each way. This matters if you use the 500-mile minimum estimate per segment.

Trip type

Choose one-way or round-trip. Round-trip doubles the one-way calculation.

Accrual rate

Different fare buckets earn at different percentages of flown distance. Deep discount economy can earn far less than flexible economy or business. If you know your exact fare class, use the corresponding percentage from your airline earning chart.

Status bonus and promo bonus

Elite status may add bonus award miles. Promotional campaigns can also add fixed amounts. This calculator separates these so you can see base credit and bonus credit clearly.

Example scenarios

Example 1: Leisure round-trip in economy

  • One-way distance: 1,100 miles
  • Segments per one-way: 1
  • Trip type: Round-trip
  • Accrual: 75%
  • Status bonus: 0%

Credited distance is 2,200 miles. At 75% accrual, base miles are about 1,650. No status bonus means total award miles stay near 1,650.

Example 2: Business trip with elite status

  • One-way distance: 2,400 miles
  • Segments per one-way: 2
  • Trip type: Round-trip
  • Accrual: 125%
  • Status bonus: 20%

Base credit rises quickly because of higher accrual. Gold-style status bonus then adds an additional layer, producing a significantly larger award total than economy fares on the same route.

Tips to maximize Aegean Miles+Bonus earnings

  • Check booking class before purchase: two economy fares can earn very different mile totals.
  • Prefer nonstop only when price and accrual align: some connecting itineraries may earn more distance.
  • Watch campaign windows: bonus promotions can materially improve your effective return.
  • Track tier goals early: if you are close to a status threshold, route and fare decisions matter more.
  • Credit consistently: avoid splitting credit across multiple programs unless there is a clear advantage.

Important caveats

No third-party calculator can guarantee exact post-flight credit. Airline loyalty programs update rules, partners apply different earning tables, and specific fare basis codes can override broad category assumptions. Treat this as a planning tool, then verify against the current official Miles+Bonus and partner pages before booking.

FAQ

Does this calculator include every Star Alliance partner rule?

No. It provides a practical estimate based on generic distance-and-accrual logic.

Are tier miles the same as award miles?

Often they differ. In this tool, tier miles are shown as base flight credit, while status bonus is applied to award miles only.

Why use a 500-mile minimum segment rule?

Some programs and fare structures apply minimum segment credit. This checkbox gives you a quick scenario test; switch it on and off to compare outcomes.
