ARK Cloning Cost Calculator
Enter the exact shard cost shown inside your Cloning Chamber, choose how many clones you want, and this tool will calculate your total shard and Element requirements.
Tip: ARK uses 100 Element Shards = 1 Element. This calculator supports both ASE and ASA shard planning workflows.
How ARK cloning costs actually work
In ARK, every creature has a cloning shard cost visible in the Cloning Chamber interface. That number is the most reliable value to use because it already reflects your creature's current stat profile and mutation history. Instead of guessing from species alone, use the chamber value and multiply by your desired number of duplicates.
Total Shards = (Shards per Clone) × (Number of Clones) × (1 + Buffer % / 100)
Element Equivalent = Total Shards ÷ 100
Why use a cloning calculator?
Cloning projects get expensive fast, especially when you are duplicating high-value boss lines, cave mounts, or event breeders. A quick planning tool helps you avoid three common mistakes:
- Starting a clone cycle without enough Element Shards prepared.
- Underestimating your total costs when cloning in batches.
- Forgetting to account for extra margin when moving shards across bases and vaults.
How to use this tool step by step
1) Check your Cloning Chamber
Place the creature into the chamber and note the displayed shard requirement. Enter that exact number in Element Shards per Clone.
2) Set your production batch
Enter how many duplicates you want in Number of Clones. This makes planning for tribe projects much easier.
3) Add your available shards
If you already have shards stored, enter them in Element Shards You Currently Have. The calculator will show how many more you still need.
4) Add a safety buffer
A 2% to 10% buffer is common for large operations. This helps avoid “almost enough” situations during long farming sessions.
Practical cloning strategy tips
- Prioritize utility lines first: Clone the tames that save you time daily (cavers, farmers, transport mounts).
- Batch by role: Run separate clone plans for PvE utility, boss prep, and PvP response lines.
- Track shard burn rate: Keep a simple log so you can forecast your weekly Element farming needs.
- Protect your chamber: In PvP environments, your cloning station and shard stockpile are high-value targets.
FAQ
Does this calculator estimate creature stats?
No. It is intentionally built around the exact shard number shown in-game, which is the most dependable method for real planning.
Can I use this for both ARK: Survival Evolved and ARK: Survival Ascended?
Yes. If your chamber displays a shard cost, this calculator will handle totals, Element conversion, and project planning the same way.
What is the biggest planning mistake?
Most players only calculate one clone, then scale up mentally. For large projects, always compute the full batch and include a buffer.
