How this birth chart transit calculator works

A transit calculator compares where planets were at your birth (your natal chart) to where planets are on a selected date (the transits). The relationship between those positions forms aspects, and aspects are often used in astrology to describe timing, themes, and periods of growth.

This page gives you a fast way to scan for major transit-to-natal aspects. Once you calculate, you will see planetary positions and a list of the strongest active aspects sorted by orb (how close the aspect is to exact).

Input guide

1) Birth date and birth time

Enter your birth date and time as accurately as possible. Birth time matters most for the Moon and rapidly changing points. If you do not know your exact birth time, use noon (12:00) as a neutral estimate.

2) Transit date and transit time

Choose the moment you want to analyze: today, an upcoming event date, or a past date for reflection. The calculator defaults to your current local date and time for convenience.

3) Aspect orb

Orb is the allowed distance from exact aspect angle. For example, a 90° square with a 1.2° orb is very close and typically interpreted as strong. Typical orb settings:

• 1°–2°: tight and focused
• 3°: balanced (good default)
• 4°–5°: broader and more inclusive

What the aspects usually symbolize

• Conjunction (0°): merging, intensity, new cycle beginnings
• Sextile (60°): opportunity, cooperation, useful openings
• Square (90°): tension, pressure, action, growth through friction
• Trine (120°): flow, ease, natural support, talents
• Opposition (180°): polarity, reflection, relationship dynamics

How to read your output

Start with the smallest orb aspects first. These are usually the loudest. Next, look for repeating themes:

• Is the same natal planet being hit multiple times?
• Are several squares/oppositions active (high pressure period)?
• Are trines/sextiles dominant (supportive momentum)?

A practical approach is to combine this with journaling: write down active aspects, notice real-life events, then review trends over weeks or months.

Best practices for transit interpretation

Prioritize outer planets for long-term themes

Jupiter through Pluto move slowly and often describe background chapters in life: career shifts, relationship maturation, identity reorientation, and deeper psychological work.

Use faster planets for timing

Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars move more quickly and can act as triggers. They often activate themes already set up by slower transits.

Track exact dates and repeat passes

Some transits become exact more than once (especially around retrograde periods in advanced systems). Even in simplified tools, observing repeated activations can be insightful.
