Estimate Your Weapon Damage
Enter your stats, scaling grades, buffs, and target defenses. This tool gives a practical damage estimate for physical-style hits.
How this Bloodborne damage calculator works
This calculator is designed to help you estimate real fight damage from your weapon setup, not just displayed Attack Rating (AR). In Bloodborne, the number shown on your weapon screen is only part of the story. Enemy defense, attack animation multipliers, scaling, and gems all change your final hit.
What is included
- Base weapon damage and stat scaling (Strength, Skill, Arcane)
- Upgrade bonus and blood gem percentage boosts
- Flat additive buffs
- Motion value (light attack vs charged attack)
- Enemy flat defense and percent mitigation
- Optional counter-hit bonus for favorable thrust/open windows
Understanding scaling and soft caps
Bloodborne stats have diminishing returns. You get excellent value early, solid value up to mid game, and weaker value near the hard cap. In practical terms:
- 0–25: strong gains
- 25–50: moderate gains
- 50+: slower growth
That means a weapon with good Skill scaling may shine on a 50 Skill build, while a quality setup can outperform at lower levels when both Strength and Skill are invested together.
Why AR and real damage are different
The game applies enemy defenses after your attack value is built. A high AR weapon can still underperform against specific foes if your move has a weak motion value or if the enemy has high physical protection. On the other hand, strong gems and high-motion attacks can make a lower displayed AR hit much harder than expected.
Quick optimization tips
- Use the calculator per attack type, not just per weapon.
- Test different gem totals for boss vs mob routes.
- Compare Strength-focused, Skill-focused, and quality stat spreads.
- Include beasthood only when your build can reliably maintain it.
Example setup
Suppose you run a +10 quality weapon with B Strength and C Skill scaling, 25/25 stats, and a 27% gem setup. Against an enemy with medium defense, your basic R1 may look average on paper, but a higher motion attack or counter window can dramatically increase output. Running these values in the calculator helps you decide when to prioritize faster safe hits or commit to heavier punishes.
Important note
This tool is a practical approximation for planning and build comparison. Bloodborne includes deeper interactions (split damage types, hidden modifiers, specific enemy properties, and weapon-specific quirks). Use this calculator to compare options consistently, then validate in-game on your target enemies.
