BP Calculadora (Blood Pressure)
Enter your blood pressure values to estimate your category, mean arterial pressure (MAP), and pulse pressure (PP).
What is a BP calculadora?
A bp calculadora is a simple tool that helps you interpret blood pressure numbers quickly. Most people know the two values in a BP reading (for example, 120/80), but many are not sure what those values actually mean in day-to-day health decisions.
This calculator is designed to make that interpretation easier. It classifies your reading using standard categories and provides extra metrics that can be useful for personal tracking and doctor discussions.
How this calculator works
1) Systolic pressure (top number)
Systolic pressure measures arterial pressure when your heart contracts. It is the first and usually larger number in a BP reading.
2) Diastolic pressure (bottom number)
Diastolic pressure measures arterial pressure when your heart rests between beats. It is the second number in the reading.
3) Mean arterial pressure (MAP)
MAP estimates your average arterial pressure throughout a full heartbeat cycle and is calculated as:
MAP = (Systolic + 2 × Diastolic) ÷ 3
4) Pulse pressure (PP)
Pulse pressure is simply:
PP = Systolic − Diastolic
It can be helpful as an additional context marker, especially when trends are tracked over time.
Blood pressure category reference
| Category | Systolic (mmHg) | Diastolic (mmHg) |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | < 120 | < 80 |
| Elevated | 120–129 | < 80 |
| Hypertension Stage 1 | 130–139 | 80–89 |
| Hypertension Stage 2 | ≥ 140 | ≥ 90 |
| Hypertensive Crisis | > 180 | > 120 |
How to measure blood pressure correctly at home
- Rest for at least 5 minutes before measuring.
- Avoid caffeine, smoking, and intense exercise for 30 minutes before measurement.
- Sit with your back supported and both feet flat on the floor.
- Keep your arm at heart level.
- Use the correct cuff size for your arm.
- Take at least 2 readings, one minute apart, and record both.
How to interpret your result
If your reading is normal
Great baseline. Continue healthy habits, stay active, and monitor periodically.
If your reading is elevated
This is an early warning zone. Lifestyle adjustments can make a meaningful difference before blood pressure progresses.
If your reading is Stage 1 or Stage 2
Track your readings over several days and consult your healthcare provider for a personalized plan. Persistent high readings should not be ignored.
If your reading suggests hypertensive crisis
If your measurement is greater than 180 systolic and/or greater than 120 diastolic, repeat after 5 minutes. If still high, seek urgent medical care, especially if symptoms are present.
Practical ways to improve blood pressure
- Reduce sodium intake and favor whole foods.
- Maintain a healthy body weight.
- Exercise consistently (walking, cycling, strength training).
- Prioritize sleep quality and stress management.
- Limit alcohol and avoid tobacco exposure.
- Follow treatment plans if medication is prescribed.
Important note
This bp calculadora is educational and not a medical diagnosis tool. Individual risk depends on age, medical history, medication, kidney function, diabetes status, and other factors. Always discuss repeated abnormal readings with a licensed healthcare professional.
