Inputs explained
1) Wall dimensions
Enter total wall length and height in meters. The calculator multiplies these values to get gross wall area.
2) Openings area
Add the combined area of all doors, windows, and other openings. This is deducted from the gross wall area to produce the net masonry area.
3) Block size and mortar joint
Block length and height are entered in millimeters. Mortar joint thickness is added to both dimensions to represent real installation spacing. The calculator uses this adjusted face size to estimate block count.
4) Wastage percentage
Wastage accounts for breakage, cutting, transport damage, and minor measurement changes. Typical values:
- 3% to 5% for simple walls with experienced crews
- 5% to 8% for walls with many corners or openings
- Up to 10% for complex layouts or uncertain site conditions
