OSRS Combat Level Calculator
Enter your Old School RuneScape levels below to calculate your exact combat level, dominant combat style, and the fastest paths to your next combat level.
Level ranges: most skills 1-99, Hitpoints 10-99.
What this OSRS combat calculator does
This tool calculates your Old School RuneScape combat level using the official OSRS formula. It also shows your exact decimal value (before flooring), which combat style currently dominates your level, and how many levels in each skill would push you to the next combat level.
If you are planning a main account, pure build, zerker, or med-level PK account, this is useful for staying in your desired PvP bracket while still optimizing damage and survivability.
OSRS combat level formula (explained)
Base: 0.25 × (Defence + Hitpoints + floor(Prayer ÷ 2))
Melee: 0.325 × (Attack + Strength)
Ranged: 0.325 × floor(Ranged × 1.5)
Magic: 0.325 × floor(Magic × 1.5)
Combat Level: floor(Base + max(Melee, Ranged, Magic))
Only your highest combat style contribution (Melee, Ranged, or Magic) is used. That is why certain builds can gain lots of utility levels while keeping combat relatively low.
Why Prayer sometimes feels “slow” for combat levels
Prayer is halved and floored in the formula. In practice, this means Prayer often affects combat in uneven steps. You may need two Prayer levels before seeing the next visible combat increase.

Build planning tips for OSRS
Main account progression
For mains, broad stat growth is usually best. Defence, Hitpoints, and Prayer all improve durability and unlock content. Melee stats, Ranged, and Magic can be trained based on your preferred PvM style.
Pure and PvP bracket control
If you are building a pure, you typically want to maximize offensive output while limiting unnecessary combat increases. This calculator helps you see exactly when a “small” level-up will move you into a higher bracket.
Zerker and med-level accounts
Zerkers and meds often prioritize key unlocks (gear, prayers, spells) while controlling combat level growth. Use this calculator frequently before large training sessions so you can avoid overshooting your planned bracket.
Frequently asked questions
Does this match OSRS exactly?
Yes. The script follows the standard OSRS combat formula, including floor logic for Prayer, Magic, and Ranged contributions.
What is the max combat in OSRS?
The maximum combat level in Old School RuneScape is 126.
Does gear affect combat level?
No. Equipment changes your combat effectiveness, but your combat level is determined only by your skill levels.
Final thoughts
Whether you are searching for an OSRS combat level calculator, planning a PK build, or mapping a long-term training route, the key is understanding level breakpoints before you train. Use this calculator as your quick checkpoint tool, and you will make cleaner progression decisions with fewer regrets.
