MapleStory Cubing Calculator
Estimate cubes and meso needed to tier up your potential and roll a target line setup.
What this cubing calculator does
This MapleStory cubing calculator is built to answer a practical question: how much meso should I expect to spend from your current potential tier to a finished target setup. It combines two parts of the cubing process:
- Tier-up path (for example, Rare → Epic → Unique → Legendary)
- Rolling your desired lines once you reach your target tier
Because cubing is random, the calculator gives expected values and simulated outcomes instead of a guaranteed cost.
How the estimate is calculated
1) Tier-up expected cubes
For each tier jump, the calculator uses a geometric expectation: Expected cubes = 1 / probability. If you need multiple jumps, those expectations are added together.
2) Target-line expected cubes
After reaching your target tier, your desired line chance is treated the same way: Expected cubes = 1 / desired line probability. If your line chance is 1%, the expected number of cubes is about 100 for that step alone.
3) Budget success chance via simulation
To estimate your chance of finishing within budget, the tool runs Monte Carlo simulations. This gives a useful “real-world feel” for variance, including median and high-percentile outcomes.
Built-in assumptions and defaults
The calculator includes default values for common cube types and typical tier-up rates. These are convenience defaults and may differ by server, region, patch, event, and item category.
| Cube Type | Default Cost | Rare→Epic | Epic→Unique | Unique→Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Red Cube | 12,000,000 meso | 14.0% | 6.0% | 2.5% |
| Black Cube | 22,000,000 meso | 20.0% | 11.0% | 5.0% |
| Meister Cube | 7,500,000 meso | 11.6% | 4.7% | 1.9% |
How to use this effectively
- Pull your desired line probability from a trusted cubing rate table.
- Use your current market/event price per cube.
- Set a realistic budget and compare it to the simulated success chance.
- If probability is low (for example, aggressive 3-line goals), expect large variance.
Practical cubing strategy tips
Cube during discounts or cube sales
Even a modest event discount can dramatically reduce expected meso. Input your discounted cube cost to measure impact immediately.
Stage your goals
Instead of forcing perfect lines instantly, use intermediate breakpoints (usable 2-line first, then min-max later). This lowers short-term variance pressure.
Protect your bankroll
Set a hard cap. If your simulated success chance is too low for your budget, delay the project or adjust your target.
FAQ
Are these official rates?
No. They are reasonable defaults for planning. Always check current official/community sources for your specific server and patch.
Why do two players spend very different amounts?
Cubing outcomes are random. Two players with identical goals can end up far apart due to variance.
Can I use this for any item?
Yes, as long as you input the correct line probability for that item and line pool. Different item types can have different odds.
