D2R Skill Points Calculator
Use this tool to quickly estimate available skill points in Diablo II: Resurrected based on your level, quest progression, and current skill investment.
Note: This calculator tracks hard skill points only. Item bonuses like +All Skills or +Class Skills are not included.
How D2R skill points actually work
In Diablo II: Resurrected, your character gains skill points from two sources: leveling and specific quests. Understanding this formula is essential if you want to avoid overinvesting early and ruining a late-game build.
1) Level-based points
You gain one skill point every level after level 1. That means:
- Level 1 character: 0 points from leveling
- Level 30 character: 29 points from leveling
- Level 99 character: 98 points from leveling
2) Quest rewards
Across Normal, Nightmare, and Hell difficulties, three quests grant extra skill points:
- Den of Evil: +1 per difficulty (up to +3 total)
- Radament (Book of Skill): +1 per difficulty (up to +3 total)
- Izual: +2 per difficulty (up to +6 total)
Maximum quest bonus is 12 skill points, bringing the absolute cap to 110 total hard points at level 99 with all rewards completed.
How to use this d2r skill calculator
- Select your class (for class-specific planning tips in results).
- Enter your current level.
- Set how many times you completed each skill-reward quest (0 to 3).
- Enter your currently spent hard skill points.
- Click Calculate to see your total earned and unspent points.
If your result shows a negative value, your entered "spent" points are higher than the maximum possible for your current progression.
Build planning tips for each class
Amazon
Bowazon and Javazon both rely on careful point spread. Keep enough points for passives and synergies; don’t max utility skills too early.
Assassin
Trap builds often prioritize Lightning Sentry synergies. Martial Arts builds require tighter point discipline across charge-ups and finishers.
Barbarian
Most endgame setups need a strong core attack and one-point wonders in warcries. Resist the urge to overfill many weapon masteries.
Druid
Elemental and shapeshift trees can both become point-hungry. Plan around your final form (caster, Fury, or summoner hybrid) before spending heavily.
Necromancer
Summoner and Bone variants are very efficient, but hybrid experimentation can dilute power fast. Prioritize your main damage package first.
Paladin
Auras plus combat skills create synergy pressure. Hammerdin and FoH styles have different point paths, so decide your target build early.
Sorceress
Cold, Fire, and Lightning each demand different synergy investments. Saving points while leveling makes late-game respecs much smoother.
Common mistakes this calculator helps prevent
- Forgetting to count Izual as +2 per completion
- Assuming level 99 gives 99 skill points from leveling (it gives 98)
- Ignoring missed quest rewards on alts rushed through difficulties
- Spending too many points on early convenience skills
