What this Genshin damage calculator does
This tool gives you a practical estimate for single-hit damage in Genshin Impact. It focuses on ATK-scaling talents and combines the most important multipliers: attack, talent %, damage bonus, defense, resistance, crit stats, and optional amplifying reactions.
Use it when you want to compare artifacts, test weapon upgrades, or see whether more Crit DMG is better than more ATK% for your current build.
Core damage formula (simplified)
1) Total Attack
Total ATK = Base ATK × (1 + ATK%) + Flat ATK
Base ATK usually comes from your character + weapon. ATK% comes from artifacts, buffs, and weapon passives. Flat ATK is the direct additive stat.
2) Talent and damage bonus
Raw Hit = Total ATK × Talent Multiplier × (1 + DMG Bonus)
Talent multiplier is the percentage shown in your talent details. DMG Bonus includes elemental damage bonus, burst/skill bonus, and similar effects.
3) Defense multiplier
The calculator uses the level-based defense expression with optional defense reduction. This usually has a big impact, especially when your enemy level is high.
4) Resistance multiplier
Enemy resistance is handled with Genshin's piecewise rules:
- Below 0% resistance: increased damage with half efficiency per point
- 0% to 75%: normal linear reduction
- 75% and above: heavy diminishing returns
5) Crit and expected damage
The calculator shows three values: non-crit hit, crit hit, and expected average hit.
- Non-crit: base result without crit
- Crit: non-crit × (1 + Crit DMG)
- Average: non-crit × (1 + Crit Rate × Crit DMG)
How to use the calculator effectively
- Start with your real stats from the character details screen.
- Match the talent multiplier to the exact hit you want to test (normal, skill tick, burst slash, etc.).
- Add enemy resistance and shred effects (Viridescent Venerer, Zhongli shield, etc.).
- Toggle reactions to compare non-reaction vs Vape/Melt setups.
- Change one stat at a time to see true marginal gains.
Common optimization insights
Balance crit ratio first
A balanced crit profile often beats extreme Crit DMG with low Crit Rate. If your average damage barely moves, you may need to improve rate before stacking more Crit DMG.
Don't ignore enemy resistance
Resistance shred can produce major gains, especially on enemies with high default resistance. In many teams, this can outperform raw ATK increases.
EM matters for reaction teams
If your carry reliably triggers Vape or Melt, elemental mastery is often very efficient, especially at low-to-mid EM values.
Limitations and assumptions
This is a clean, readable model—not a full combat simulator. It does not currently model every edge case such as multi-hit ICD behavior, transformative reactions, defense ignore stacking complexity, motion values by frame timing, or dynamic buffs changing during a rotation.
Still, for artifact checks, weapon comparison, and quick build decisions, it is fast and surprisingly accurate.
