If you play League of Legends seriously, one of the biggest improvements you can make is learning your real burst damage windows. This damage calculator lol helps you estimate whether your combo can actually secure a kill after armor, magic resist, and penetration are applied.

Enter your offensive stats and your target's defenses, then calculate estimated post-mitigation damage.

Note: This tool is an estimation model for quick decision-making (all-in checks, lethal thresholds, and item comparison). It does not model every in-game interaction.
How this damage calculator lol helps you win more fights
Most players misjudge damage in two places: they overestimate burst into tank stats and underestimate how much penetration amplifies a combo into squishy targets. This calculator gives you a practical “can I kill?” estimate before you commit cooldowns.
- Check if your level spike can one-shot a carry.
- Compare penetration builds versus raw AD/AP builds.
- Estimate all-in damage before diving under turret.
- Understand when true damage becomes your strongest finisher.
Damage formula used in this page
1) Raw combo damage
For each damage type, raw damage is calculated from base skill values and stat scaling:
- Physical raw = Base Physical + (AD Scaling % × Total AD)
- Magic raw = Base Magic + (AP Scaling % × AP)
- True raw = True Damage input
A global modifier is then applied to represent external buffs/debuffs such as temporary bonus damage effects.
2) Penetration and effective defenses
To approximate League of Legends mitigation flow, target armor and magic resist are reduced by percentage penetration first and then by flat penetration:
- Effective Armor = Armor × (1 − %Armor Pen) − Flat Armor Pen
- Effective MR = MR × (1 − %Magic Pen) − Flat Magic Pen
3) Mitigation multipliers
Final physical and magic damage use resistance multipliers. Positive resistance reduces damage, while negative resistance amplifies it. True damage is not reduced by armor or magic resist.
Practical example: assassin burst check
Imagine you have a mixed-damage combo: 200 base physical with 100% AD scaling, plus 150 base magic with 60% AP scaling. Your stats are 280 AD and 120 AP. The target has 100 armor and 80 magic resist.
Plugging those values into this calculator immediately shows the difference between raw tooltip damage and post-mitigation real damage. This is exactly the gap that decides whether your roam is a free kill or a failed dive.
Build optimization ideas
When to prioritize penetration
- Enemy front line is stacking armor/MR early.
- Your champion has high base values and needs help converting into real damage.
- You are playing burst windows and need reliable lethal thresholds.
When raw AD/AP may be better
- Enemy carries are low-defense targets.
- Your champion has high scaling ratios.
- You already have sufficient penetration from kit or items.
What this calculator does not fully model
This page is intentionally lightweight and fast. It does not fully include every LoL system, such as:
- Complex multi-hit sequencing with different resist shred timings
- On-hit interactions and special damage conversions
- Crit chance simulation and random variance
- Shields/heals that happen during the combo timing window
- Rune-specific conditions and champion-specific passives
Final thoughts
If you want to climb, better fight selection matters more than mechanical outplays alone. A clean League of Legends damage calculator workflow lets you evaluate all-ins, objective skirmishes, and item spikes with confidence. Use this tool in champ select planning, VOD review, or between games to build stronger in-game intuition.
