Delta SkyMiles Calculator
Estimate redeemable Delta miles, optional card miles, and Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) from paid Delta flights.
Estimator only. Delta may calculate earnings differently based on fare rules, partner airlines, taxes/fees, and program updates.
How this Delta miles calculator works
Delta generally awards redeemable SkyMiles on paid Delta-marketed flights using a revenue-based model. That means your miles are tied to eligible spend rather than simple flight distance. This calculator uses the current common earning pattern: base miles = eligible spend × status rate.
The tool also lets you include miles earned from a Delta credit card when purchasing airfare. Those card miles are separate from flight-earned miles, but travelers usually want to see the combined total in one estimate.
Inputs explained
1) Eligible ticket spend
Enter the amount of spend that qualifies for mileage earning per trip. In many cases, this is the base fare and airline-imposed surcharges, not every fee or tax shown at checkout.
2) Medallion status multiplier
- General Member: 5 miles per dollar
- Silver Medallion: 7 miles per dollar
- Gold Medallion: 8 miles per dollar
- Platinum Medallion: 9 miles per dollar
- Diamond Medallion: 11 miles per dollar
3) Card bonus miles
If you pay with a Delta co-branded Amex card, you may earn additional miles on Delta purchases. Select your expected card earning rate so you can estimate total miles from both sources.
4) Number of trips
Planning repeat travel? Set how many similar flights you expect so you can quickly estimate monthly, quarterly, or annual earnings.
5) Estimated value per mile
This lets you convert miles into a rough dollar value. Many travelers use a range around 1.1 to 1.4 cents per SkyMile, though actual redemption value can be lower or higher depending on route and timing.
Quick example
Suppose your eligible spend is $500 per trip, you hold Gold Medallion status (8x), earn 2x card miles on Delta purchases, and take 4 similar trips:
- Flight miles: 500 × 8 × 4 = 16,000
- Card miles: 500 × 2 × 4 = 4,000
- Total estimated miles: 20,000
- Estimated value at 1.2 cents/mile: about $240
Ways to increase your SkyMiles earnings
- Book paid flights when fares are efficient for your route and schedule.
- Use the right Delta card for airfare purchases.
- Track promotions and limited-time offers from Delta and partners.
- Consider higher status benefits if your travel volume supports it.
- Compare redemption options before booking awards to improve cents-per-mile value.
Important limitations
This calculator is an educational estimator, not an official Delta tool. Actual earnings can differ for partner-operated flights, special fares, waivers, non-qualifying charges, and future policy changes. Always check Delta’s current program terms before making booking decisions.
