How this delta points calculator works
This tool estimates points earned from paid Delta flights using a miles-per-dollar model. For most travelers, Delta awards miles based on eligible ticket spend and Medallion status. The calculator also lets you include extra card points and one-off promotional bonuses.
What the estimate includes
- Flight points from your selected status earning rate (for example, 5x or 9x).
- Optional card points earned on the same purchase.
- Optional promotional bonus points as a flat add-on.
- An estimated dollar value of your total points balance earned.
Input guide: what to enter
1) Eligible flight spend
Enter the portion of your ticket price that earns miles. In many cases this is base fare plus carrier-imposed surcharges. Government taxes and airport fees often do not earn points.
2) Status earning rate
Choose the rate that matches your current Delta membership status. If your scenario is unusual (partner ticketing, special contracts, or temporary promos), choose Custom rate and enter your own value.
3) Card rate and promotional bonus
If you use a card that earns extra points for Delta purchases, add that multiplier. If you are running a one-time offer (for example, “+2,500 miles after first flight”), place that in the bonus field.
Example calculation
Suppose you spend $600 in eligible fare, fly 3 similar trips, have Gold status (8x), and earn 2x from your card. You also receive a 1,000-point promo.
- Flight points: $600 × 3 × 8 = 14,400
- Card points: $600 × 3 × 2 = 3,600
- Promo points: 1,000
- Total estimated points: 19,000
