Genshin Energy Recharge Calculator

Estimate how much ER% your character needs to burst on time each rotation.

Enter your team energy values and click Calculate ER.

How this energy recharge calculator works

In Genshin Impact, your burst uptime depends on one simple relationship: how much energy your character needs versus how much energy they gain each rotation. This calculator gives you a practical estimate for required Energy Recharge (ER%) using a particle-based model.

Required ER% = (Burst Cost × Bursts Needed) ÷ Base Energy Gained per Rotation × 100

Base energy gained is estimated from the particles you enter:

  • Same element, on-field particle: 3 energy
  • Different element, on-field particle: 1 energy
  • Same element, off-field particle: 1.8 energy
  • Different element, off-field particle: 0.6 energy
  • Neutral particle (Favonius-style), on-field: 2 energy
  • Neutral particle, off-field: 1.2 energy

You can also include flat refunds from passives, constellations, weapons, or team effects.

How to use it for real teams

1) Start with your burst cost

Most supports and sub-DPS characters are 60 to 80 cost. If your character is 80 cost and you want to burst every rotation, the ER requirement can become high unless your team funnels particles well.

2) Estimate particle routing honestly

Count only particles your character reliably receives. If particles are generated but picked up by another unit, they should not be counted as on-field for this character.

3) Include Favonius and refunds

Favonius procs are often the difference between awkward and smooth rotations. If your team has consistent crit rate on Favonius holders, add those neutral particles.

4) Compare with your current ER

The calculator checks whether your entered ER% is enough. If you are short, you can fix it by:

  • Adding more ER rolls/artifacts
  • Changing to an ER weapon
  • Improving particle funneling
  • Shortening dead time in rotations

Practical ER interpretation

After calculation, use this quick interpretation:

  • ~100% to 120%: very comfortable, low energy pressure
  • ~120% to 160%: typical for many teams with good battery support
  • ~160% to 220%: common for burst-reliant units without heavy funneling
  • 220%+: very high; consider team restructuring or more battery tools

Tips to lower ER requirements

Use same-element teammates

Particles of the same element are much more valuable. A proper battery can cut required ER dramatically.

Catch particles on the right character

If possible, swap to your burst-dependent unit before particles are absorbed. On-field collection gives significantly better energy return.

Leverage Favonius consistency

Favonius weapons are strongest when crit consistency is reliable. If your proc rate is low, your practical ER need is higher than your sheet suggests.

Respect rotation timing

Energy needs and cooldown alignment go together. Even if theoretical energy is enough, awkward execution can still delay bursts.

FAQ

Is this calculator exact?

It is a practical estimate, not a frame-perfect simulator. It is designed for build planning and team optimization rather than strict laboratory precision.

Does it account for every character-specific mechanic?

Not automatically. Enter those effects as flat energy or adjust particle counts based on your actual gameplay logs and test runs.

Can I use it for every role?

Yes. It works for on-field carries, off-field sub-DPS, supports, and healers—anyone whose burst timing matters to rotation quality.
