How to use this feet size calculator

This feet size calculator gives you a quick estimate of your shoe size from raw foot measurements. It is useful when buying shoes online, comparing international shoe size charts, or checking fit before ordering boots, sneakers, or dress shoes.

To get a reliable result:

  • Measure both feet and use the longer one.
  • Measure at the end of the day, when feet are slightly larger.
  • Stand upright while measuring to account for full weight distribution.
  • Add a little extra room for thick socks or high-impact activities.

Step-by-step foot measurement at home

What you need

  • A sheet of paper
  • A pen or pencil
  • A ruler or measuring tape
  • A wall and a flat floor

Measurement method

Place the paper against a wall, then stand on it with your heel touching the wall. Mark the tip of your longest toe and measure the distance from the wall to that mark. That number is your foot length. For width, measure across the broadest part of your forefoot.

These two values (length and width) are enough to estimate a starting shoe size and width category such as narrow, standard, or wide.

Understanding shoe size conversion systems

Different countries use different size standards. This is why one pair may be labeled US 10, UK 9, and EU 43 for the same approximate fit.

  • US size: Common in the United States, often separated by men, women, and kids.
  • UK size: Similar structure but generally about one full size lower than US men.
  • EU size: Uses a continental scale and often appears as whole numbers.
  • Mondo (Mondopoint): Foot length in centimeters, widely used in technical and ski footwear.

Fit tips for better comfort

  • Leave about a thumb’s width of space in front of your longest toe.
  • Your heel should feel secure without slipping.
  • If one foot is larger, size for the larger foot.
  • For running shoes, many people prefer going up by about half a size.
  • If your feet are wide, choose wide-width models instead of simply sizing up length.

Important note on brand differences

No calculator can perfectly replace trying shoes on, because each brand uses different lasts, toe-box shapes, and material stiffness. Use this tool as your baseline, then confirm with brand-specific fitting notes and return policies.

Quick FAQ

Is this calculator accurate?

It provides a practical estimate based on common conversion formulas. Final fit can still vary by shoe model and manufacturer.

Should I measure in cm or inches?

Either is fine. Centimeters are usually easier for precise sizing and shoe size conversion.

What if I am between two sizes?

For everyday shoes, go with the larger size if you prefer extra comfort, thicker socks, or a roomier toe box.
