Estimate Your French Income Tax
Use this quick tool to estimate French household income tax (impôt sur le revenu) based on progressive tax brackets and the family quotient system.
Educational estimate only. This calculator does not include all French rules (e.g., décote, tax credits/reductions, family quotient caps, exceptional contributions, overseas specifics).
How this France tax calculator works
This calculator follows the core mechanics of the French income tax system:
- Your household income is divided by your family quotient parts (parts fiscales).
- Tax is computed on that per-part income using progressive brackets.
- The result is multiplied back by your total number of parts.
This gives a practical estimate for many common scenarios and helps you project annual and monthly tax burdens.
French tax brackets used in this tool
The calculator uses the following progressive rates (per part):
- 0% up to €11,294
- 11% from €11,294 to €28,797
- 30% from €28,797 to €82,341
- 41% from €82,341 to €177,106
- 45% above €177,106
These brackets are suitable for an up-to-date estimate, but official values can be revised each year.
