What Is Crit Value in Genshin Impact?

Crit Value (CV) is a quick scoring method players use to judge how strong an artifact is for damage-focused builds. Because both Crit Rate and Crit DMG improve DPS, CV combines them into one simple number. This makes comparing two artifacts much faster than checking each stat line manually.

Community standard formula: CV = (Crit Rate × 2) + Crit DMG. Crit Rate is weighted twice because its percentage value is typically about half of Crit DMG value in balanced builds.

CV Benchmarks for Individual Artifacts

These are practical guidelines used by many players:

  • 0–20 CV: Weak or early-game placeholder.
  • 20–30 CV: Usable; often fine for supports and budget builds.
  • 30–40 CV: Strong piece; good stopping point for many accounts.
  • 40–50 CV: Excellent and hard to replace.
  • 50+ CV: Extremely rare high-roll artifact.

Total Build CV Reference

  • Below 120: Early progression set.
  • 120–160: Functional mid-game build.
  • 160–200: Strong endgame quality.
  • 200–240: Very high investment.
  • 240+: Top-tier artifact luck and optimization.

Important Notes About CV

1) CV Is Not the Whole Story

Elemental Mastery, Energy Recharge, ATK%, HP%, DEF%, and set bonuses can matter more than raw CV depending on the character. For example, a low-CV piece with great ER can outperform a high-CV piece if it fixes burst uptime.

2) Main Stats and Team Context Matter

Don't force CV at the cost of correct main stats. A proper Elemental DMG Goblet with moderate substats is often better than an off-main-stat piece with huge CV. Team buffs (Bennett, Furina, Kazuha, etc.) also affect what stat balance is optimal.

3) Crit Rate / Crit DMG Balance

A general target is around a 1:2 ratio (for example, 70% Crit Rate and 140% Crit DMG). This calculator also estimates your crit multiplier so you can evaluate practical consistency, not just CV bragging rights.

Quick Example

Suppose your artifact has 10.1% Crit Rate and 20.2% Crit DMG:

CV = (10.1 × 2) + 20.2 = 40.4

That is a very strong artifact and likely worth keeping for most DPS characters.

FAQ

Does CV include only substats?

Most players use CV to evaluate artifact substat quality, but some people include visible crit totals from a single artifact card. Be consistent with your method when comparing pieces.

Is higher CV always better?

Not always. A slightly lower-CV artifact with needed Energy Recharge, Elemental Mastery, or correct set synergy can deliver higher real damage.

What is a "good" CV for F2P players?

Around 30+ on key pieces is already solid. Focus on complete, balanced builds before chasing perfect 45+ CV artifacts.
