10-Point GPA Calculator
Enter your course grade points (0 to 10) and credits to calculate a weighted GPA. Optionally add your previous CGPA and completed credits to estimate your updated cumulative GPA.
| Course / Subject | Grade Point (0–10) | Credits | Action |

Tip: Leave a row completely blank if you do not need it. The calculator uses weighted GPA: sum of (grade × credits) ÷ total credits.
What Is a GPA on a 10-Point Scale?
A 10-point GPA system assigns each course a grade point from 0 to 10, then combines those grades using course credits. This is common across many schools and universities, especially for semester GPA (SGPA) and cumulative GPA (CGPA) reporting.
Unlike simple averages, a weighted GPA gives more importance to higher-credit courses. A 4-credit course affects your GPA more than a 2-credit course.
How the 10-Point GPA Formula Works
Weighted GPA Formula
GPA = Σ(Grade Point × Course Credits) / Σ(Total Credits)
Example:
- Math: Grade 9, Credits 4 → 36
- Physics: Grade 8, Credits 3 → 24
- English: Grade 7, Credits 2 → 14
Total weighted points = 74, total credits = 9, so GPA = 74 / 9 = 8.22.
How to Use This Calculator Correctly
- Add each subject you took in the semester.
- Enter the exact grade point (0 to 10) for each subject.
- Enter the official credits for each subject.
- Click Calculate GPA.
- If needed, include previous CGPA + previous credits to estimate new cumulative GPA.
Make sure you use the same grading rules your institution uses. Some schools round to two decimals; others may round to one decimal or truncate.
Typical 10-Point Grade Meaning
| GPA Range | General Interpretation |
|---|---|
| 9.0 – 10.0 | Outstanding / Exceptional |
| 8.0 – 8.99 | Excellent |
| 7.0 – 7.99 | Very Good |
| 6.0 – 6.99 | Good |
| 5.0 – 5.99 | Satisfactory |
| Below 5.0 | Needs Improvement |
10-Point GPA to Percentage and 4.0 Scale (Approximate)
Many students need conversions for applications, internships, or international admissions. A common rough estimate is:
- Percentage ≈ GPA × 10
- 4.0 Scale ≈ (GPA / 10) × 4
Important: these are estimates only. Universities and credential evaluators often use their own conversion policy, so always verify official guidelines before submitting transcripts.
Common GPA Calculation Mistakes
- Using a simple average instead of weighted average.
- Forgetting lab or practical credits.
- Including non-graded pass/fail courses incorrectly.
- Rounding too early at each step.
- Mixing semester GPA with cumulative GPA.
Quick GPA Improvement Strategy
Focus on high-credit courses first
Improving by one grade point in a 4-credit course has more GPA impact than improving in a 1-credit course.
Track performance weekly
Use a simple spreadsheet or this calculator every two weeks to estimate where you stand before final exams.
Recover low-performing subjects early
If one core subject is below target, act early with office hours, peer study, and revision plans.
FAQ
Is SGPA the same as CGPA?
No. SGPA is semester-specific. CGPA combines performance across multiple semesters using total credits.
Can I calculate GPA if I have decimals in grade points?
Yes. This tool accepts decimal values such as 8.5 or 7.75.
Do all institutions use the same 10-point conversion to percentage?
No. Some institutions use fixed multipliers, others use custom formulas. Always check your university handbook.
