How the math works

1) Wall area

The calculator uses: Wall Area = 2 × (Length + Width) × Height. This gives the total area for four walls in a rectangular room.

2) Ceiling area

If selected, ceiling area is: Length × Width.

3) Net board area to cover

Openings (doors/windows) are subtracted from wall area. Then wall and ceiling areas are combined. Finally, waste is added as a percentage.

4) Board count

Board area is Board Length × Board Width. Required sheets = Net Coverage Area ÷ Board Area, then rounded up to the next whole board.
