Ibiza Tourist Tax Calculator
Estimate your Balearic Islands sustainable tourism tax (ITS / Ecotasa) for stays in Ibiza.
How the Ibiza tourist tax works
If you're planning a trip to Ibiza, you'll usually pay a local overnight tax called the Impuesto del Turismo Sostenible (ITS), often referred to as the ecotax. The amount is charged per person, per night, and depends on the type of accommodation and the season.
Most travelers see this charge either at booking checkout or at hotel reception. The money is intended to support environmental protection, infrastructure maintenance, and sustainable tourism projects across the Balearic Islands.
Who pays the tax?
- Guests aged 16 and over are usually taxable.
- Children under 16 are generally exempt.
- Longer stays may qualify for a 50% reduced rate from night 9 onward.

How to use this calculator correctly
Step 1: Pick your accommodation type
Choose the category that best matches your booking. If you are unsure, your reservation details should show the hotel class or rental category.
Step 2: Select season
High season usually runs from May through October, while low season runs from November through April.
Step 3: Enter taxable guests and nights
Only guests aged 16+ are counted for tax. Nights are counted per overnight stay in Ibiza.
Step 4: Apply long-stay reduction if relevant
For many stays, nights 9+ can be charged at 50% of the normal nightly rate. Keep this enabled unless you have a specific reason not to use it.
Quick examples
- Example A: 2 adults, 7 nights, 4-star hotel, high season
Rate: €3.00 | Total = 2 x 7 x 3.00 = €42.00 - Example B: 2 adults, 10 nights, 5-star hotel, high season (with reduction)
First 8 nights at full rate: 8 x 4.00 = 32.00 per person
Nights 9-10 at 50%: 2 x 2.00 = 4.00 per person
Total per person: 36.00 | Group total: €72.00 - Example C: 2 adults + 2 children, 5 nights, standard apartment, low season
Children exempt; taxable guests = 2
Total = 2 x 5 x 0.50 = €5.00
