The overall band is based on this formula:
(Listening + Reading + Writing + Speaking) ÷ 4 = Average Band
The average band is then rounded using IELTS rounding rules.
IELTS rounding rules explained simply
- If the average ends in .25, it rounds up to .5.
- If the average ends in .75, it rounds up to the next whole band.
- Otherwise, the score is rounded to the nearest half band.
Example: If your average is 6.25, your overall score is 6.5. If your average is 6.75, your overall score is 7.0.
