Madrid Income Tax Calculator (IRPF Estimate)
Use this tool to estimate your annual IRPF and net salary if you live and work in Madrid. It combines Spain's state tax bands with Madrid's regional bands.
Educational estimate only. Official payroll and Agencia Tributaria calculations may differ.
How to use an income tax calculator in Madrid
If you are employed in Madrid, your personal income tax (IRPF) is calculated using two layers: a state rate and a regional rate set by the Comunidad de Madrid. Because both are progressive, your marginal and effective tax rates increase as taxable income rises.
This calculator helps you quickly estimate:
- Annual IRPF tax
- Employee social security impact
- Estimated annual net salary
- Monthly net salary based on 12 or 14 payments
What this Madrid IRPF calculator assumes
1) Gross salary is your starting point
The calculation starts with annual gross salary. From there, we apply optional employee social security, then deductions and allowances to estimate your taxable base.
2) Employee social security is optional but enabled by default
The tool uses an estimated employee contribution of 6.35%, with a yearly cap on contributory base. This is a common approximation for payroll planning.
3) Personal and family allowance is included
We apply a simplified personal minimum by age and a child allowance structure:
- Personal allowance: €5,550 (general), €6,700 (65+), €8,100 (75+)
- Children: first €2,400, second €2,700, third €4,000, fourth and onward €4,500 each
4) Progressive brackets combine state + Madrid rates
The calculator computes state and Madrid regional taxes separately, then adds them. Effective combined marginal rates in this simplified model are approximately:
- Up to €12,450: 18.0%
- €12,450–€17,707: 22.7%
- €17,707–€20,200: 24.8%
- €20,200–€33,007: 27.8%
- €33,007–€35,200: 32.4%
- €35,200–€53,407: 35.9%
- €53,407–€60,000: 39.0%
- Above €60,000: 43.0%
Example: estimating tax on a Madrid salary
Suppose you earn €42,000 gross in Madrid, are 34 years old, and have no children. The calculator will:
- Estimate social security deduction
- Apply personal minimum
- Compute state IRPF on taxable base
- Compute Madrid regional IRPF on the same base
- Return annual tax, annual net income, and net monthly pay
This gives you a practical estimate for negotiating salary, planning savings, or comparing job offers.
