Zakat Calculator
Enter your yearly zakatable assets and short-term liabilities. This tool applies the common 2.5% rate once Nisab and Hawl are met.
What Is Zakat?
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is an annual obligation on qualifying wealth, generally calculated at 2.5% after meeting two conditions: your wealth is above the Nisab threshold, and it has been held for one lunar year (Hawl).
This calculator is designed to give a practical estimate for personal use. It includes cash, savings, investments, gold/silver, receivables, and business inventory, then deducts eligible short-term liabilities.
How This Islamic Zakat Calculator Works
1) Add Zakatable Assets
- Cash at home and in bank accounts
- Investment value that is zakatable
- Gold and silver (based on current per-gram prices)
- Trade inventory and receivables expected to be paid
2) Subtract Eligible Liabilities
The tool subtracts near-term obligations, such as debts and bills due within the period. Long-term debt is often treated differently by scholars, so if your case is complex, verify with a trusted imam or qualified scholar.
3) Check Nisab
Nisab is the minimum wealth level that makes zakat obligatory. You can choose either:
- Silver Nisab: 595 grams of silver
- Gold Nisab: 85 grams of gold
Many scholars and institutions use silver Nisab because it includes more people in giving and increases social support for those in need.
4) Apply 2.5%
If your net zakatable wealth is at or above Nisab and Hawl is met, the calculator applies:
Zakat Due = Net Zakatable Wealth × 0.025

Example Zakat Calculation
Suppose your totals are:
- Total assets: 15,000
- Short-term liabilities: 2,000
- Net zakatable wealth: 13,000
If your selected Nisab is 500 and Hawl is complete, zakat is due:

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I pay zakat every month?
Zakat is generally paid once per lunar year. Some people save monthly so annual payment is easier.
Should I use gold or silver Nisab?
Both methods exist in scholarly practice. Silver often results in a lower threshold and therefore broader obligation. Follow trusted local guidance.
What if I have mixed assets in different currencies?
Convert everything into one currency before calculation. Then check against Nisab and apply 2.5%.
Final Reminder
