IVF Due Date Calculator
Enter your embryo transfer date and embryo age to estimate your baby’s due date and important pregnancy milestones.
How this IVF birth date calculator works
Pregnancy dating after IVF is more precise than many natural conceptions because your care team knows exactly when fertilization happened and when the embryo was transferred. This calculator uses that timing to estimate your due date, also called your estimated date of delivery (EDD).
For IVF, a common formula is:
- Estimated due date = transfer date + (266 − embryo age in days)
So if your transfer was a Day 5 blastocyst, the calculator adds 261 days. If it was a Day 3 embryo, it adds 263 days.
What your result includes
After you run the calculator, you’ll see:
- Your estimated due date
- Estimated conception/fertilization date
- LMP-equivalent date used for obstetric week counting
- Key timeline milestones such as 12-week and 20-week points
- A likely birth window (early-term to post-dates range)
These dates are planning estimates. Your OB or fertility clinic may adjust timing based on ultrasound findings and your unique medical context.
IVF due date basics
Why IVF dating is usually accurate
In spontaneous conception, ovulation and implantation can vary by several days. In IVF, transfer timing is known, and embryo developmental stage is documented. That makes initial due-date prediction more standardized.
Day 3 vs Day 5 transfer differences
The embryo age at transfer changes the number of days added:
- Day 3 transfer: add 263 days
- Day 5 transfer: add 261 days
- Day 6 transfer: add 260 days
This difference is small but important when scheduling scans, bloodwork, and trimester milestones.
Important note on IVF pregnancy timing
Even with precise IVF dating, birth does not always happen on the due date. Many healthy pregnancies deliver before or after EDD. Think of your due date as a clinical anchor used for monitoring growth, screening windows, and planning—not a guaranteed birthday.
Tips for using your IVF due date
- Save the date in your calendar along with major milestone weeks.
- Use your clinic’s official date in medical forms and insurance paperwork.
- Confirm scan timing with your provider if your cycle had special factors (PGT, donor eggs, frozen transfer protocol, etc.).
- Track symptoms and appointments in one place so you can quickly share updates with your care team.
Frequently asked questions
Is IVF due date calculation different from natural conception calculators?
Yes. IVF calculators rely on known transfer date and embryo age, while natural conception calculators often estimate from last menstrual period and assume ovulation timing.
Does frozen embryo transfer change the due date formula?
The embryo freezing status does not change the basic due date math. Embryo age at transfer and transfer date remain the key inputs.
Can ultrasound change my due date later?
Sometimes. Your provider may keep the IVF-based date or make a clinical adjustment if growth measurements suggest a different timeline is more appropriate.
