Pokémon Sword IV Calculator

Enter one stat at a time to find all possible IV values (0–31) that match your Pokémon's observed stat.

Enter your values and click Calculate IV Range.

What this IV calculator does

This tool helps you estimate a Pokémon’s hidden IV value in Pokémon Sword by using the in-game stat you can see. IVs (Individual Values) are hidden numbers from 0 to 31 that affect final stats. A higher IV usually means better performance in battle, especially for competitive play, raid building, and breeding projects.

Because many different IV values can produce the same visible stat at some levels, the result is often a range rather than a single number. If your input is specific enough (for example, correct level, EVs, and nature), the calculator can return an exact IV.

How to use this Pokémon Sword IV calculator

  • Choose a stat type: HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, or Speed.
  • Enter base stat: Use the species base stat for the same stat (for example, Gyarados Attack base stat is 125).
  • Enter observed stat: The exact number shown in your Pokémon summary.
  • Enter level: Current level of that Pokémon.
  • Enter EVs: The EV investment in that stat (0–252).
  • Select nature modifier: For non-HP stats: hindering, neutral, or beneficial.

Tip: If you are unsure about EVs, test a freshly caught or freshly hatched Pokémon with no training for cleaner results.

IV formula used in Sword and Shield

HP Formula

HP = floor(((2 × Base + IV + floor(EV/4)) × Level) / 100) + Level + 10

Other Stats Formula

Stat = floor((floor(((2 × Base + IV + floor(EV/4)) × Level) / 100) + 5) × Nature)

Nature is 1.1 (beneficial), 1.0 (neutral), or 0.9 (hindering). This calculator checks all IV values from 0 to 31 and reports every value that exactly matches your entered stat.

Judge terms in Pokémon Sword

After you unlock the Judge function in the Battle Tower, IV quality is shown with labels:

  • No Good: IV 0
  • Decent: IV 1–15
  • Pretty Good: IV 16–25
  • Very Good: IV 26–29
  • Fantastic: IV 30
  • Best: IV 31

If your result range includes multiple values, the in-game Judge label can help narrow that range further.

Breeding and training advice

For competitive teams

  • Most attackers want 31 IV in main offensive stat and Speed.
  • Most bulky builds want high HP and defensive IVs.
  • Some trick room builds intentionally run low Speed IV (0 if possible).

Using Bottle Caps

Hyper Training in Sword can make stats perform as if IVs are perfect for battle, but it does not change the underlying breedable IV. If breeding matters, you still want real inherited IVs from parent Pokémon and a good Destiny Knot setup.

Common reasons for inaccurate results

  • Wrong EV assumption (even a small EV amount can shift outcomes).
  • Nature entered incorrectly for non-HP stats.
  • Using the wrong species base stat or wrong form.
  • Reading temporary battle effects instead of permanent summary values.

Final thoughts

A solid IV calculator saves time whether you are shiny hunting, breeding perfect raid counters, or optimizing ranked battle teams. Use this page as a quick one-stat checker, and repeat for each stat to profile your Pokémon completely.
