League of Legends Rune Shard Calculator
Pick your three rune shards, set your champion stats, and get instant bonus stat totals at your current level.
What this LoL rune calculator does
This page is built to answer a very practical question before champion select: How much raw power am I actually getting from my rune shards? Instead of guessing whether you should run scaling health, attack speed, or haste, you can get a direct stat breakdown for your specific champion setup.
The calculator focuses on the three stat shards because they apply to every game and every role. That means it works for ADC, jungle, support, top, and mid without forcing you into one build path.
How the math works
1) Shard values
- Offense row: +10% Attack Speed, or +9 Adaptive Force, or +8 Ability Haste
- Flex row: +9 Adaptive Force, or +2% Move Speed, or +10-180 Health scaling with level
- Defense row: +65 Health, or +10-180 Health scaling with level, or +10% Tenacity and Slow Resist
2) Adaptive Force conversion
Adaptive Force turns into either AD or AP depending on your choice in this tool:
- 1 Adaptive Force = 0.6 Attack Damage
- 1 Adaptive Force = 1 Ability Power
So two adaptive shards (18 Adaptive Force total) become 10.8 AD or 18 AP.
3) Scaling health formula
The scaling health shards increase linearly from level 1 to 18:
- Level 1: +10 HP
- Level 18: +180 HP
This calculator uses a straight interpolation between those values for accurate mid-game numbers.
When to use each shard setup
Aggressive lane pressure
Take attack speed or adaptive force when you need early trading power. Champions that auto often generally value attack speed, while burst mages and assassins usually prefer adaptive force.
Scaling and teamfight reliability
Scaling health performs especially well when you expect longer fights, delayed engages, or heavy poke. It gives less immediate power than flat health, but better value in extended games.
CC-heavy enemy teams
Tenacity and slow resist can be game-changing against compositions with layered crowd control. If you are frequently chain-CC'd before you can use cooldowns, this shard is often worth more than raw HP.
Quick role-based recommendations
- ADC: Attack Speed + Adaptive + Flat HP is a stable default.
- AP Mid: Adaptive + Adaptive + Flat or Scaling HP depending on lane pressure.
- Bruiser Top: Attack Speed or Adaptive + Scaling HP + situational defense.
- Tank Jungle: Haste + Scaling HP + Tenacity/Slow Resist for engage consistency.
- Enchanter Support: Haste + Adaptive + Flat HP in most lanes.
Common mistakes this tool helps prevent
- Overvaluing flat HP in long games where scaling HP becomes stronger.
- Ignoring the AD/AP conversion rate from adaptive force.
- Forgetting that move speed scales every roam and objective rotation.
- Picking pure damage into hard CC comps where you cannot cast spells.
FAQ
Is this an official Riot calculator?
No. It is an educational stat estimator for rune shards and stat planning.
Does this include full rune tree effects like Conqueror or Electrocute?
Not in this version. It focuses on the three universal stat shards so you can quickly compare baseline stats.
Can I use this for champion-specific optimization?
Yes. Enter your champion’s approximate starting stats, test different shard combinations, and compare final values before queueing.
