Malta Gross to Net Wage Calculator
Estimate your take-home pay in Malta based on gross salary, tax status, social security, and deductions.
This calculator provides an estimate for planning purposes and does not replace payroll advice.
What this Malta wage calculator does
This tool estimates your annual and per-period take-home pay from a gross salary in Malta. It applies a progressive tax model and includes employee social security (Class 1 style estimate) so you can quickly compare salary offers, job changes, and package structures.
How the estimate is calculated
1) Annual gross income
Your gross salary per pay period is multiplied by the number of pay periods in a year, then any annual bonus is added. This gives total annual gross pay.
2) Employee social security
If enabled, the calculator estimates employee social security as 10% of annual gross, capped by the annual maximum you enter. The default cap is set to a common planning value.
3) Taxable income
Taxable income is calculated as annual gross minus social security and minus other annual pre-tax deductions. If this would fall below zero, it is treated as zero.
4) Progressive income tax
The calculator applies progressive tax bands according to the selected tax status (Single, Married, or Parent). Each portion of income is taxed at the rate for that specific bracket.
