market cap price calculator

Market Cap ↔ Price Calculator

Use this tool to estimate implied token/stock price from a target market cap, or calculate the required market cap for a target price. You can enter values like 2.5B, 750M, or plain numbers.

Reverse Calculator (Price → Needed Market Cap)

Want to know what market cap is required to reach a specific price?

What is market cap, and why does it matter?

Market capitalization (market cap) is one of the fastest ways to understand the size of an asset. In simple terms, it tells you how much the market currently values a company or crypto project.

  • For stocks: Market Cap = Share Price × Shares Outstanding
  • For crypto: Market Cap = Coin Price × Circulating Supply

People often focus only on price per coin or price per share, but that can be misleading. A low-priced coin is not automatically “cheap,” and a high-priced coin is not automatically “expensive.” Market cap gives context.

The core formulas used in this calculator

1) Implied price from target market cap

Implied Price = Target Market Cap ÷ Circulating Supply

2) Required market cap from target price

Required Market Cap = Target Price × Circulating Supply

3) Optional growth metrics

If you enter current price or current market cap, the calculator also estimates:

  • Expected percentage increase
  • Multiple (e.g., 3x, 10x)
  • Dollar difference between current and target market cap

How to use this market cap price calculator

  1. Enter circulating supply (or shares outstanding).
  2. Enter your target market cap to estimate implied price.
  3. Optionally add current price or current market cap for growth comparisons.
  4. For reverse planning, enter a desired price to see required market cap.

You can use shorthand values like K, M, B, T (thousand, million, billion, trillion). Example: 1.5B = 1,500,000,000.

Example walkthrough

Let’s say a token has a circulating supply of 500 million and you want to know what price it reaches at a $20 billion market cap:

  • Implied price = 20,000,000,000 ÷ 500,000,000 = $40

If its current price is $8, that would imply:

  • Price multiple: 5x
  • Approximate gain: +400%

Common mistakes investors make

  • Ignoring supply changes: If supply inflates, future price targets become harder to reach.
  • Comparing price only: A $0.05 coin can still have a huge market cap.
  • Using fully diluted vs circulating supply incorrectly: Know which supply number you are modeling.
  • Forgetting realism: A target market cap should be benchmarked against comparable assets.

Quick FAQ

Is market cap enough to value an asset?

No. It is a useful top-level metric, but you should also review fundamentals, cash flow (for stocks), tokenomics (for crypto), competition, and risk.

Can this calculator be used for both stocks and crypto?

Yes. The math is the same. Just use shares outstanding for stocks and circulating supply for crypto.

What if I only know two variables?

That is enough. This tool is designed to infer missing values as long as the required fields for each mode are present.

Educational use only. This is not financial advice.
