2) It adds each word total
Every letter value is summed for each word, then combined into a phrase total.
3) It reduces the total
The total is reduced by adding its digits until a single digit is reached, unless master numbers are preserved. If the master number option is checked, 11, 22, and 33 will not be reduced further.
