Paddy Power Odds Calculator
Convert odds formats and calculate implied probability, potential return, and profit for a single bet.
How this Paddy Power odds calculator works
This tool is built for quick betting math. Enter your stake, choose your odds format, and the calculator instantly converts between fractional, decimal, and American odds. It also shows your implied probability, expected total return, and expected profit for a winning single.
Paddy Power markets usually display fractional and decimal odds, but many bettors compare prices across sites and regions. Having one place to standardize odds helps you avoid mistakes and compare value faster.
Odds format refresher
1) Fractional odds (e.g. 5/2)
Fractional odds show profit relative to your stake. At 5/2, you win 5 units for every 2 staked. A £10 stake at 5/2 gives £25 profit, plus your £10 stake back, for a £35 total return.
2) Decimal odds (e.g. 3.50)
Decimal odds already include stake in the multiplier. Return = Stake × Decimal Odds. So £10 at 3.50 returns £35 total.
3) American odds (e.g. +250 / -120)
Positive odds (+250) show profit on a 100-unit stake. Negative odds (-120) show how much you must stake to win 100 units. These are common in US books, but easy to convert.
Formulas used by the calculator
- Fractional to Decimal: Decimal = (Numerator / Denominator) + 1
- American to Decimal: +A → (A / 100) + 1, and -A → (100 / A) + 1 where A is absolute value
- Implied Probability: 1 / Decimal Odds
- Total Return: Stake × Decimal Odds
- Profit: Total Return - Stake
Example calculation
Say you stake £20 at 11/4:
- Decimal odds = 3.75
- Implied probability = 26.67%
- Total return = £75.00
- Profit = £55.00
With a single glance, you can decide whether the risk/reward profile fits your strategy.
Tips for using odds calculators effectively
- Always compare the same odds format before deciding where to place a bet.
- Check implied probability against your own estimate of true probability.
- Track closing prices to see whether your selections beat the market over time.
- Use a fixed staking plan to avoid emotional bet sizing.
Each-way betting note
This calculator is focused on single win bets. For each-way bets, split your stake into win and place parts, then apply place terms (like 1/5 odds, 1/4 odds) to the place component. If you regularly back horses each-way, consider keeping a dedicated each-way spreadsheet alongside this tool.
Quick FAQ
Why do my converted fractional odds look slightly different?
Some decimals do not convert perfectly into clean fractions. The tool approximates to practical bookmaker-style fractions.
Does this include bookmaker margin (overround)?
No. Implied probability here is based on a single quoted price. For full market analysis, calculate overround across all outcomes.
Can I use this for football, horse racing, and accumulators?
Yes for single prices in any sport. For accumulators, multiply decimal odds leg-by-leg first, then apply your stake.
