Dual Type Effectiveness Calculator

Pick one or two Pokémon types to instantly see defensive weaknesses, resistances, immunities, and offensive STAB coverage.

What this Pokémon dual type calculator does

In Pokémon, dual typing can completely reshape matchups. A single added type can erase one weakness, introduce a new 4× weakness, or grant a powerful immunity. This calculator helps you evaluate that profile fast, so you can build teams with fewer blind spots.

Enter one type for a monotype profile (like Electric) or two types for a dual-type profile (like Water / Ground). The tool computes:

  • All incoming damage multipliers (defensive profile)
  • 4× weaknesses, 2× weaknesses, resistances, and immunities
  • Best offensive STAB coverage against all single defending types

How dual-type multipliers work

Pokémon effectiveness multipliers stack multiplicatively. If a move is super effective (2×) against your first type and not very effective (0.5×) against your second type, the final result is: 2 × 0.5 = 1× (neutral).

Common outcomes

  • 4× damage: both types are weak to that attack type.
  • 0.25× damage: both types resist that attack type.
  • 0× damage: at least one type is immune (immunity overrides everything).

Quick strategy examples

Water / Ground

Great defensive spread with an Electric immunity, but a dangerous 4× weakness to Grass. You usually pair this with a teammate that can switch into Grass moves comfortably.

Steel / Fairy

Typically loaded with resistances and useful neutralizations. This pairing can serve as a defensive pivot and status absorber depending on the format.

Dragon / Flying

Gains useful offensive pressure, but watch for Ice: both types are weak, creating a severe 4× weakness. Coverage support or a dedicated Ice check becomes essential.

Team-building tips with dual typing

  • Start by identifying your 4× and 2× weaknesses.
  • Add teammates that resist or are immune to those threats.
  • Use your resistances to define safe switch-in opportunities.
  • Check offensive STAB coverage so your core does not get hard-walled.
  • Recalculate when changing Tera plans, movesets, or role assignments.
