pregnancy calendar due date calculator

Pregnancy Due Date Calculator

Use this pregnancy calendar to estimate your due date, current gestational age, and key milestone dates.

Typical range: 21 to 45 days. Default is 28 days.

How this pregnancy calendar due date calculator works

This tool uses the same general approach used in many clinics for early pregnancy date estimates. If you enter your last menstrual period, it applies a version of Naegele’s rule: start from the first day of your last period and add 280 days (40 weeks), then adjust for cycle length if your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days.

If you choose conception date instead, the calculator adds 266 days (38 weeks), which reflects the average time from conception to delivery. Either way, the result is an estimate, not a guarantee of delivery on one exact day.

What you get instantly

  • Estimated due date (EDD)
  • Estimated conception date
  • Current gestational age in weeks and days
  • Current trimester
  • A practical pregnancy timeline with milestone dates

Why due dates are estimates, not deadlines

Even with good data, most babies are not born exactly on the due date. A full-term birth often occurs anytime between 37 and 42 weeks, and many healthy pregnancies deliver between 39 and 41 weeks. Think of your due date as an anchor point for planning appointments, maternity leave, childcare support, and home preparation.

In real medical care, your provider may revise dating based on first-trimester ultrasound measurements. Early ultrasound is often the most accurate way to confirm gestational age when menstrual dates are uncertain.

Pregnancy calendar by trimester

First trimester (weeks 1–13)

During this phase, embryo development is rapid. You may notice nausea, fatigue, breast tenderness, and heightened smell sensitivity. Early prenatal labs and your first visits usually happen during this period.

Second trimester (weeks 14–27)

Many people feel better physically in the second trimester. Around week 18 to 22, the anatomy scan is commonly performed. Fetal movement may become noticeable, and routine follow-up visits continue.

Third trimester (weeks 28–40+)

Growth accelerates, and preparation for birth becomes the focus. Appointments are often more frequent near term. Planning for labor signs, hospital bag, support person schedule, and postpartum recovery is especially important.

Tips for using your due date effectively

  • Schedule prenatal care early and keep regular appointments.
  • Track major dates: screening tests, anatomy scan, and glucose testing window.
  • Use the timeline to plan practical logistics: work leave, transportation, and home support.
  • Review medications, supplements, and nutrition with a qualified clinician.
  • Remember that date changes can happen after ultrasound confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I trust an online due date calculator?

It is useful for planning and education, especially early on. However, clinical care should rely on your provider’s full assessment, including ultrasound and medical history.

What if I have irregular cycles?

Entering cycle length can improve the estimate compared with a fixed 28-day assumption, but irregular cycles still reduce precision. In that case, ultrasound dating is especially helpful.

What if I conceived through fertility treatment?

IVF and other assisted reproduction methods typically use specific dating conventions tied to transfer date and embryo age. Your fertility specialist or obstetric provider should give the official pregnancy dating.
