Interactive Talent Planner
Plan your build, check point limits, and apply a recommended split for your class and focus. This fan-made tool uses a simple model: you gain 1 talent point per level starting at level 10.
What this Project Epoch talent calculator does
A good talent calculator should do more than add numbers. It should help you make decisions. This page gives you a fast way to plan a character, validate your point spending, and see whether your build is balanced, hybrid, or highly specialized.
If you are experimenting with leveling routes, raid setups, or PvP burst builds, a calculator saves time and prevents costly respec mistakes. You can also use it to compare two ideas before committing in-game.
Core point formula
Available points
The planner uses a straightforward formula:
available points = max(0, level - 9) + bonus points.
That means you begin earning talents at level 10 and gain one point each level after that.
- Level 9 with 0 bonus = 0 points
- Level 20 with 0 bonus = 11 points
- Level 40 with 2 bonus = 33 points
- Level 60 with 0 bonus = 51 points
Allocation checks
The calculator validates your tree spending against available points. If you overspend, you get a clear warning and the exact number of points you need to remove. If your build is legal, you get a status summary including remaining points and milestone unlock progress.
How to use the planner effectively
Step 1: Set class and focus
Choose your class first. Tree labels automatically update to class-specific names so you can think in real build terms instead of generic Tree 1/2/3 labels. Then select your goal:
- Solo / Questing: better sustain and quality-of-life progression.
- Raid / Group PvE: throughput, team utility, and reliable rotations.
- PvP / Duels: control, burst windows, and defensive counters.
Step 2: Input level and bonus points
This gives you the total point budget. If your server or progression rules include quest rewards or season bonuses, enter them in the bonus field to reflect your real cap.
Step 3: Allocate, calculate, iterate
Enter your point spread and click Calculate Build. You will see whether the build is legal and what style it resembles. If you want a quick baseline, click Apply Recommended Split and then fine-tune.
Build archetypes by class
Vanguard (Bulwark / Warlord / Tactician)
- Bulwark-heavy: tankier, safer leveling, stronger pull control.
- Warlord-heavy: aggressive melee output with burst priority.
- Tactician mix: utility, mobility, and team support flexibility.
Mystic (Elemental / Chronomancy / Vitality)
- Elemental focus: ranged pressure and AoE scaling.
- Chronomancy focus: cooldown control and tempo mastery.
- Vitality support: sustain, recovery, and group resilience.
Ranger (Marksmanship / Traps / Beastcraft)
- Marksmanship focus: precision damage and reliable single-target performance.
- Trap control: zoning, slows, and tactical disengage setups.
- Beastcraft focus: pet synergy and sustained combat uptime.
Common mistakes this calculator helps prevent
- Spending points as if level-based caps were higher than they actually are.
- Overcommitting to one tree and missing key utility breakpoints.
- Ignoring leftover points and entering a dungeon with unspent power.
- Copying endgame builds too early without adapting for leveling realities.
- Failing to plan for PvP counters when moving from PvE talent setups.
Final notes
This Project Epoch talent calculator is best used as a planning companion, not a rigid answer key. Strong builds depend on your gear, encounter type, party composition, and playstyle comfort. Start with a recommendation, test in content, then iterate.
If you keep one principle in mind, make it this: spend points with intention. Every point should either improve your survival, increase your damage/healing consistency, or unlock utility that changes outcomes in real fights.
