Why a Revolut transfer fee calculator matters

If you move money between countries often, tiny percentage fees can quietly eat into your budget. A transfer might look “free” at first glance, but there are usually multiple cost layers: transfer rail fees, currency exchange markup, weekend conversion charges, and monthly fair-usage limits on lower plans.

This page helps you estimate the true total cost before you send money. That means fewer surprises and better decisions about timing, plan level, and transfer method.

How this calculator estimates Revolut transfer costs

1) Transfer fee

The calculator applies an estimated fixed/percentage fee based on transfer type:

  • Revolut to Revolut: usually no transfer fee
  • Local/SEPA transfer: commonly low or no direct transfer fee
  • SWIFT transfer: often includes a fixed fee plus a small percentage

2) FX markup

When the send and receive currencies differ, the calculator adds a plan-based exchange markup estimate. Higher plans generally have lower FX markup.

3) Weekend markup

If conversion happens during weekend pricing windows, an extra markup may apply. Tick the weekend checkbox to include that scenario.

4) Fair usage (monthly limit)

Some plans can add extra markup after you pass a monthly exchange threshold. Add your month-to-date exchanged amount so the estimate can include any over-limit portion.

How to use the tool (quick guide)

  • Enter the amount you want to send.
  • Select source and destination currencies.
  • Paste a live mid-market FX rate (from any trusted market source).
  • Choose your Revolut plan and transfer type.
  • Add your month-to-date exchanged value and weekend status.
  • Click calculate to get fee breakdown and estimated recipient amount.

Practical examples

Example A: USD to EUR on Standard, weekday

You send 1,000 USD as a local transfer with no weekend markup. If your monthly exchanged amount is still below the free threshold, your cost is mostly basic FX markup. If you are above that threshold, extra fair-usage cost appears.

Example B: GBP to USD on weekend, SWIFT OUR

This can stack costs quickly: SWIFT fee + base FX markup + weekend markup. In many cases, sending on a weekday or changing transfer rail can materially improve recipient amount.

Ways to lower transfer costs

  • Avoid weekend conversion where possible.
  • Track monthly usage to avoid crossing fair-usage thresholds unexpectedly.
  • Compare transfer types (local vs SWIFT) before sending.
  • Consider plan upgrades if you exchange often and in high amounts.
  • Use live rates when calculating, not stale historical rates.

Important note

This calculator is an educational estimator, not an official pricing engine. Revolut pricing can vary by country, corridor, currency pair, transfer route, partner bank charges, and account terms. Always confirm final fees in-app before completing a transfer.
