ARK Forge Calculator
Estimate ingots, smelt time, and fuel needed for your next metal run in ARK.
Assumes 2 Metal Ore = 1 Metal Ingot. Rates can vary by mod, map, and server configuration.
What This ARK Forge Calculator Does
If you have ever returned from a heavy metal run and wondered, “How long until this becomes ingots?” this tool is for you. The calculator helps you quickly estimate three core things:
- How many Metal Ingots you will produce from your ore
- How much fuel you will need to complete smelting
- How long the process takes, including effects from multipliers and multiple forges
How the Math Works
1) Ore to Ingot Conversion
Standard ARK conversion is simple: every 2 Metal Ore becomes 1 Metal Ingot. If you enter 2,000 ore, the calculator returns 1,000 ingots.
2) Smelting Time
Each forge type uses a different baseline speed. The calculator applies your speed multiplier directly to reduce total time.
- Refining Forge: slower, early-to-mid game option
- Industrial Forge: much faster for large base production
3) Fuel Requirement
The required fuel is estimated from total smelting time and fuel burn duration. If you run several forges in parallel, your real-world wait time drops, and total fuel updates accordingly.
When to Use Refining vs Industrial Forge
Refining Forge
Great for new tribes or outposts. It is cheap and available early, but it is slower and can become a bottleneck once you start producing advanced gear in bulk.
Industrial Forge
Ideal for late-game throughput. If your tribe is crafting hundreds of structures, saddles, and ammo stacks, industrial forging saves massive amounts of time.
Practical Smelting Tips
- Run multiple forges to reduce downtime after farming routes.
- Split ore evenly across forges for the best parallel efficiency.
- Keep extra fuel staged nearby so crafting lines do not stall.
- Account for server multipliers after events, wipes, or admin changes.
- Plan charcoal production if you are burning wood for gunpowder workflows.
Example Planning Scenario
Suppose you farm 8,000 ore and want to process it overnight. Enter your ore amount, select forge type, set your active forge count, and apply your server multipliers. In seconds, you will know expected ingot output, fuel needs, and completion time.
This makes base logistics smoother: fewer surprise shortages, fewer idle crafters, and better timing for raid prep, boss gear, and blueprint crafting queues.
FAQ
Does this work for ARK: Survival Evolved and ARK: Survival Ascended?
Yes. The calculator is designed around common baseline mechanics used in both versions, with adjustable multipliers for your specific server setup.
Why might my exact results differ in-game?
Mods, unofficial server settings, and custom rates can alter burn duration and smelting speed. Treat this as a planning calculator and tune multipliers for your environment.
Can I use this for tribe-wide production planning?
Absolutely. It is especially helpful when assigning farming targets and scheduling crafting windows for saddles, structures, ammunition, and industrial-scale building projects.
