Schengen 90/180 Rule Calculator

Track your travel history and check how many days you can still stay in the Schengen Area under the 90 days in any rolling 180-day period rule.

Previous stays (entry and exit dates are both counted)

Add all Schengen stays you have already taken. You can leave rows empty if you have no past travel.

How the Schengen calculator works

The Schengen short-stay rule is simple in wording and tricky in practice: you may stay up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day window. “Rolling” means every date has its own 180-day lookback period, not just calendar months or calendar years.

This calculator helps you answer three practical questions:

  • How many days have you used in the current rolling 180-day window?
  • How many days remain right now?
  • If you enter on your chosen date, how long can you stay continuously before hitting the limit?

Step-by-step: using this tool correctly

1) Choose a reference date

Pick the date you want to evaluate. For most travelers, this is either an intended entry date or “today.”

2) Enter all completed Schengen stays

Add each trip with entry and exit dates. Schengen counting treats both entry day and exit day as days spent in the area.

3) Click Calculate

You will get a summary with used days, remaining days, and your estimated latest legal date if you stay continuously from the reference date.

Common mistakes travelers make

  • Using calendar months: The rule is based on 180-day windows, not monthly totals.
  • Forgetting entry/exit days count: Even a short weekend can use more days than expected.
  • Ignoring overlap: Closely spaced trips can pile up and trigger an overstay risk.
  • Relying on memory: Passport stamps and tickets should be tracked in one place.

Example scenario

Suppose you stayed 20 days in spring, 35 days in summer, and 25 days in autumn. That is 80 total days, but whether you have 10 days left depends on where those stays fall relative to your next entry date. On some dates, older days drop out of the 180-day window and free up capacity. On other dates, they still count and reduce available time.
